Support Joppa in Ending Homelessness

Joppa does not receive ongoing state or federal funding. Your generous contributions provide the critical funds that fill gaps and meet unmet needs in homeless outreach, survival, housing and aftercare services, and the new Homeless Resource Center.

With your help, Joppa lifts an average of one family or individual off the streets every week!

However, we served 2,191 homeless people in 2023 (up from 870 people in 2021)
That’s an explosive 2.5 times jump in the number of people experiencing homelessness in Des Moines!

Joppa has conducted more than 800 consecutive weeks of outreach citywide, visiting places where people live under bridges, in tents, in vehicles and on the streets. We meet immediate needs, help people survive and develop relationships. As we get to know people, we ask questions about their past and future and look for opportunities to help them find housing and rebuild their lives.

With private funding, volunteers, and a small staff, Joppa has helped over 600 homeless individuals get off the streets. More than 80% of these men, women, and children remain in housing today.

We are also building support to replicate a highly successful, proven village model for providing permanent homes for chronically homeless individuals! Together, we can end homelessness in Central Iowa!
