Joppa Village is a planned neighborhood of Cottage Homes designed to provide permanent supportive housing, relationships and community for men and women who would otherwise remain chronically homeless.
It is not a shelter, and it is not temporary housing. It is a neighborhood built on dignity, accountability, relationships and long-term impact. At its heart, Joppa Village is about helping people become seen, known and loved in community.
Joppa Village is the next major step in the work to lift people off our streets. After years of walking with people living outside, we have learned that chronically homeless people—those diagnosed with one or more disability who have been homeless for years—typically need more than a roof. They need a place to belong, support they can count on and a community where they are known.
A Home of Their Own
Joppa Village will include Cottage Homes that residents can afford to rent. Each home is designed to provide privacy, safety and dignity, with a bedroom, bathroom, living area and kitchenette, and the stability that comes from knowing your home is your own.
There is dignity in paying rent and security in having a place to belong.
Community That Supports Stability
For people who have experienced chronic homelessness, isolation can be one of the greatest barriers to lasting stability. Joppa Village is designed to provide not only housing, but an intentional community of support, relationships and belonging.
Neighbors will have opportunities to build friendships, participate in community life and receive long-term support as they rebuild their lives.
Built for Long-Term Impact
At full buildout, Joppa Village is designed to grow into a community of more than 200 homes, along with shared spaces and amenities that foster belonging, purpose and long-term stability.
Joppa Village is an innovative, community-based solution for people who have been left behind by other options. It represents a major step forward in how our community can respond to chronic homelessness.
Help Bring Joppa Village to Life
Joppa Village is possible because donors, volunteers, partners, churches, businesses and community members believe people should not be left to live and die on the streets.
Together, we can help people come home, rebuild their lives and become part of a community where they are seen, known, supported and loved.
