This spring, Joppa will open Iowa’s first Homeless Resource Center and a new nonprofit thrift store called “Thriftmart.”
The Homeless Resource Center is the first of its kind, filling a gap that is desperately needed.
The center will not only provide a bathroom and everyday essentials—such as food, water, blankets, clothing and hygiene items—it is also a place for homeless people to begin rebuilding their lives.
Clients will be able to access computer stations, job assistance, and housing navigation.
Thriftmart is great for customers—offering deals on quality merchandise. But it’s even greater for the community. The thrift store will provide sustainable income to cover Joppa core operating expenses, so we can focus on our mission to help end homelessness.
We also have plans to expand the Thriftmart brand—and along with it, Joppa services and programs—to other cities and states when the time is right.
To help us get these projects over the finish line, we’ve launched a three-month capital campaign. If you’re interested in supporting either of these initiatives, contact CEO Joe Stevens at joe.stevens@joppa.org.
Without your support, the Homeless Resource Center and Thriftmart would be merely pipedreams. Thank you for helping us turn these dreams into reality—and for making a profound impact in our community.
