Joppa Participates in Des Moines Arts Festival

Joppa participated in the Des Moines Arts Festival June 25-27 to spread awareness about homelessness in Central Iowa and how the organization is helping those in need.

As part of the festival’s Community Outreach Program presented by Prairie Meadows, Joppa joined other local nonprofits in the “Creative Zone” and provided an interactive, arts-related activity for families.

The craft for the Joppa booth involved creating and decorating a paper house, which the children could take home or leave with Joppa volunteers to give to those experiencing homelessness.

Joppa staff and volunteers also had an opportunity to talk about the organization’s mission and upcoming initiatives, such as the Homeless Resource Center and Thriftmart.

This was the first year Joppa has participated in the Des Moines Arts Festival.
